Terms of service
1. The agreement
These terms govern your use of AnswerLine (answerline.dev), operated by the AnswerLine team in Hungary ("we", "us"). By creating an account, using the API or dashboard, or paying for a plan, you accept these terms. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you can bind it.
2. The service
AnswerLine provides a paid API that returns structured JSON answers collected from AI assistants and search engines (for example ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok and Google surfaces), synchronously or as async tasks with webhook delivery. Results reflect what those third-party services returned at the time of the request; we do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness or availability, and the set of supported engines may change as those services change.
3. Accounts and API keys
You must be at least 18 and provide a valid email address. You are responsible for all activity under your account and API keys. Keep keys secret, scope them to the people and systems that need them, and revoke any key you believe is exposed — compromised keys can be rotated instantly in the dashboard. We may refuse or reclaim account names and suspend sign-ups we believe are abusive.
4. Fair use, rate limits and concurrency
Use of the API is subject to the rate window, per-plan concurrency slots and queue capacity described in rate limits and concurrency and on the pricing page. Do not attempt to bypass these limits (for example with parallel free accounts) or degrade the service for others. We may throttle, queue or refuse traffic that exceeds fair use.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to:
- break any applicable law or regulation, or to build a service that does;
- infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity or other rights of third parties;
- generate, store or distribute unlawful, deceptive or harmful content, spam or malware;
- probe, overload or attack our infrastructure or the upstream services we query, or circumvent their or our access controls;
- resell raw access to the API without our written agreement;
- misrepresent results as coming directly from a third-party service, or use its or our trademarks misleadingly.
You are responsible for how you use the results. Third-party services' own terms may restrict what their content may be used for; complying with those terms is your responsibility.
6. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted service: upstream engines can change, rate-limit or block requests without notice, and maintenance or failures happen. Current and recent health is published on the status page. We offer no uptime guarantee on self-serve plans; enterprise agreements may include a specific SLA, in which case its remedies are the exclusive remedy for downtime.
7. Credits, billing and payment
- Credits. Requests are priced in credits per engine and options. A request reserves its maximum possible cost when accepted; credits are charged only for successful results, at the actual cost, and a failed request releases the reservation. See credits and billing.
- Plans. Self-serve plans renew monthly and include a fixed number of credits per cycle. Unused credits do not roll over. When credits run out, new requests are refused until the next cycle or an upgrade; self-serve plans are never billed for overage.
- Annual and enterprise plans. Annual plans are prepaid or invoiced for the full term. Where an enterprise agreement allows usage above the contracted credits, overage is invoiced monthly in arrears at the agreed rate.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclusive of taxes, which are added where required (including VAT for Hungarian and EU customers). If a payment fails, new credit cycles pause until the invoice is paid; credits you already have stay usable.
- Price changes. We may change prices or credit rates with at least 30 days' notice, applying from your next renewal.
8. Refunds
Fees are non-refundable and credits are not redeemable for cash, except where mandatory consumer or other law requires otherwise. If you believe you were charged in error, or results were systematically defective, contact [email protected] within 14 days and we will credit or refund at our discretion. Where EU consumer withdrawal rights apply to a first purchase, this section does not limit them.
9. Your data and results
You keep your rights in the prompts and parameters you submit. We use them only to provide the service as described in the privacy policy, and request payloads and results are automatically deleted after the retention window. Between you and us, you may use the results we return for your internal or commercial purposes, subject to section 5 and the rights of the upstream services.
10. Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement to the extent the law allows. Results are third-party content and may be wrong, incomplete or outdated; verify anything that matters.
To the extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost profits or lost data; and our total liability for all claims in a year is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim (or, for annual plans, the pro-rata amount for that period). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for wilful misconduct.
11. Term, suspension and termination
These terms apply while you use the service. You can stop at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account in the dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid cycle. We may suspend or terminate access immediately for breach of these terms, non-payment, or abuse, and otherwise with 30 days' notice. On termination your keys stop working, queued tasks are dropped, and remaining credits are forfeited except where law requires otherwise. Sections that by their nature survive (billing owed, liability, governing law) survive.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date. For material changes we give at least 14 days' notice by email or in the dashboard; continuing to use the service after they take effect means you accept them.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary, with mandatory EU consumer protections unaffected where they apply to you. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Budapest, Hungary, except where mandatory law gives a consumer the right to sue elsewhere. Before litigating, both sides will try to resolve disputes informally via [email protected].
